The Transformation Story
Two complete bathroom renovations within a Vaucluse residence, each with a distinct design direction. The master ensuite features floor-to-ceiling natural marble, a freestanding bath, and dual rain showers with brass fixtures. The second bathroom incorporates a commissioned scenic mural as its centrepiece alongside grey marble and a hand-carved natural stone basin.
The Brief
This Vaucluse mansion project involved two complete bathroom renovations with very different briefs. The master ensuite needed to be a sophisticated retreat - somewhere to unwind at the end of a long day. The second bathroom was an opportunity to do something bold: build an entire room around a commissioned elephant mural. Two bathrooms, two completely different visions, and both needed to be executed to the same high standard.

Master Ensuite
The master ensuite was designed around a freestanding bath set against natural marble. The bath itself is a statement piece - positioned to catch natural light and create that hotel-suite feeling the clients were after. We installed dual rain shower heads in the walk-in shower, giving options for both a quick rinse and a proper soak.
The vanity features a custom pink basin - a touch of personality in an otherwise neutral palette. It's the kind of detail that makes a bathroom feel considered rather than generic. The marble benchtop and splashback were cut from the same slab to ensure vein continuity. Behind all of this is proper waterproofing to AS3740, because beautiful finishes mean nothing if the substrate fails.

The Mural Bathroom
The second bathroom is centred around a hand-painted elephant mural - a commissioned piece that wraps around the feature wall. This kind of project requires careful coordination. The artist completed the mural first, then we built the rest of the bathroom to complement rather than compete with it.
We selected grey marble tiling that picks up tones from the artwork. The natural stone vessel basin adds texture without being distracting. Brass tapware provides warmth against the cooler marble. Every finish was chosen with the mural in mind. The result is a bathroom where bold art and quality renovation work together rather than against each other.

Quality Throughout
Both bathrooms share the same attention to detail where it matters. Waterproofing was done to Australian Standards - this is non-negotiable for wet areas. All marble and natural stone was sealed properly. Tapware is solid brass, not plated. Tiles were laid with consistent grout lines and proper falls to drains.
The difference between a bathroom that looks good on day one and one that still looks good in ten years comes down to what happens behind the tiles and under the floor. We don't cut corners on the work you can't see.

Two Visions, One Standard
This project shows what's possible when clients are willing to commit to a design vision. The master ensuite is timeless and refined - natural materials, quality fixtures, and a layout designed for daily comfort. The mural bathroom is a statement - proof that bold design choices can be executed with the same rigour as any traditional renovation. Different aesthetics, same commitment to getting the fundamentals right. That's what separates a renovation that impresses from one that lasts.
Frequently Asked Questions about Vaucluse Renovations
How do you protect a hand-painted mural in a wet bathroom environment?
The mural in this bathroom was professionally sealed before our fit-out commenced. We installed it on a non-wet wall area, positioned away from direct water contact. The surrounding tiling and fixtures were designed to direct water away from the artwork. Proper bathroom ventilation was also installed to manage humidity levels and protect the mural long-term.
